Mini, midi or midaxi: which skirt length is trending this year?

While midi pretty much undeniably set the tone in 2018, skirt lengths became a bit more variable again in 2019. The mini skirt made a comeback and midi skirts (and dresses, too) came around the corner in a slightly longer form. Most notably, the midaxi length: a mix of midi and maxi, where the hemline ends about just before the ankle.

And 2020? We’ll be wearing everything! The palette ranges from mini to midi to midaxi and maxi. But fashion fans beware: There are definitely differences in material and style this year.

Hippie skirts in midi length

One of the most relaxed skirt trends 2020 are skirts in hippie style. They are characterized mainly by paisley print, floral patterns or tiers, as well as flounces. The main thing is that the 70s send their regards!

Wrap skirts just always fit

Wrap skirts are not only a dream because they are currently trending, but especially because they are wonderfully comfortable and simply always fit: We wrap and tie them at any time as they fit us best. In a midi length, they go just as well with sneakers as with flat mule sandals.

Satin and pleated skirts: Enduring fashion trends

Satin and pleated skirts are insanely popular in 2019 for a very specific reason: they can be combined with the sporty and casual fashion pieces that are so trendy at the moment – like Ugly Sneakers – and give the pieces that crucial touch of elegance and styling. Investing in a beautiful satin or pleated skirt is definitely worth it, in a nice color it even makes a wow look with a white shirt and white sneakers.

All time favorite revisited: Denim skirts

Jeans skirts in mini length are simply a thing every summer – insofar you can’t really go wrong at this point. However, if you like to be up-to-date, you should think about a denim skirt in midi or midaxi length. The big advantage: the longer brothers of the denim mini skirts look more dressed up and grown up. With them we also like to walk to the office and the combination possibilities are virtually endless. Longer denim skirts can be casually elegant (with heeled sandals) as well as sporty (with sneakers or trekking sandals). Depending on our preference, we can go for white pencil skirts or wide swinging models here, for example. A popular detail for that certain extra: a full-length button placket.

Feminine-strong leather skirts

Leather skirts are making their grand entrance this year. We love them because they look feminine and at the same time raw and close to nature. For those who find real leather too expensive, or simply don’t like it for animal love: the faux-leather models are in no way inferior to those made of real leather. Who thinks about buying: models in black or dark brown are most worthwhile. These colors are extremely versatile in combination with a mini or midi length and not only beautiful this year. A figure-cruncher: leather skirts with paper bag waist!
