By practicing mindfulness, people learn to focus on their present. They acknowledge their thoughts and learn to let them pass through. Once thoughts are accepted, you no longer have to fight them. Therefore, they can relax and have a good sleep. But people need to know that people can’t learn mindfulness overnight. They need to master it and practice it to enjoy its benefits. So here’s what you can do to get a good night’s sleep.
- Just before you go to sleep, do mindful exercises such as mindful walking, meditation, yoga and breathing. This reduces stress and allows you to relax and rest.
- If you often wake up in the middle of the night and find it very difficult to sleep, you can practice body scan meditation.
- If your mind is wandering a lot and you can’t sleep, put one hand on your stomach and concentrate on your breathing and feel it. Do this continuously until you doze off.
- Check the sound in the background. You can do anything from the sound of a fan or air conditioner to the sound of a wind chime or a car. Count as many numbers as you can until you fall asleep.
- Finally, if you still find that it is impossible, don’t start worrying about it. Let’s sit down and practice mindful. As you start to relax, sleep will eventually come to you. But if you can’t do it, you don’t have to worry about anything. Because if you practice correctly, mindfulness can be better than a good night’s sleep.
